Last year Tove Sørensen, Tromsø finished as 12th, but managed to finish nonetheless. This year the race is going a lot better for her, she might even win. Tove started out from Neiden at 9:25 this monring just 15 minutes behind the second Frode Holten. Straight behind her Tore Albrigtsen followed, the man she is living with in Tromsø. But have they rested enough? The duo Sørensen/Albrigtsen seemed to be taking quite a risk with such a short resting period (3 hours 35 minutes). So we will see how that is going to affect their performance on the way to Polmak

The resting periods are very important for both the dogs and the mushers. Frode Holten had only rested for a short while in Kirkens and had to suffer from that on the way back to Neiden, when he had to stop to ensure the necessary rest for his dogs and himself.

That Bjørnar Andersen rested more in the checkpoint than Frode Holten could be paying off during the next stage, even though Holten had rested for several hours on the trail.

Two of the grand old men of the Finnmarkslopet Kjell Brennodden and Roger Dahl have also left the checkpoint at Neiden and they could catch up, if they coninue with the good speed of the previous stage. Roger Dahl managed to finish the stage in 7 hours and 3 minutes. This is the same time Rune Johansen needed last year, and he went on to win the race. Kjell went out of the checkpoint at 10:11 and is trailing therefore less than two hours behind. Roger Dahl used the checkpoint for a more extensive rest and started 3 hours and 24 minutes behind Bjørnar Andersen.
