Elisabeth Edland takes her revenge

Elisabeth Edland (52) er Norgesmester i langdistanse hundekjøring 8-spann. Etter en knallhard fight med årets verdensmester Marianne Skjøthaug de siste 118 kilometerne til Alta, krysset hun mållinjen i Alta klokken ????? som vinner av Finnmarksløpet 500 km.

The fight for Norwegian Champion was a replay of the World Championship in Røros earlier this year. There Skjøthaug won just minutes before Edland. Today the situation is reversed. Elisabeth Edland got her revenge, after a tacticaly perfekt race.

Rutined musher

Elisabeth Edland has been one of Norway's best mushers for many years. She comes from Nannestad and mushes for Hakadal sled dog club. She is 52 years old, has a partner, children and grandchildren. She has been in the mushing business for nearly 40 years. For many years she participated in sprint and mid-distance races, winning gold at the European Championships and several victories in the World Cup series. She is also 2004 Norwegian Champion the 8-dog class long distance mushing. There she also received the "Konge Pokal" (Kings Cup).

Won in 2007

Elisabeth participated at the Finnmarksløpet for the first time in 2006. Then she had to scratch early due to difficulties with her dogs due to the extreme cold temperature of that year. But in 2007 she was back and took a strong victory in FL-500. She works in a team together with her partner Per Olav Gausereide and Bjørn Jensen.
