It is the fourth year that the local community association presents a gift to mushers arriving at Tanabru. The first year Ralph Johannessen got a thing made of wool that was supposed to keep his private parts warm. The following year May Conny Johansen, whos ancestors are from Tana, got a seating pad made of wool. Last year the seating pad was given to Sigrid Ekran, who received the gift again this year.

- This year we wanted to give something to the first female to arrive Tana because it is great that the women are doing so well in this sport. They are tough and models for many other women, says Haldis Helander Seppola from the local community associaltion who has made the gifts.

Happy Sigrid

It was a happy and pleased Sigrid Ekran who arrived the check point in Tanabru at 18.02. So far Sigrid is happy with the race and thinks it has gone well even though she came to the check point with one dog in the sled. In Tanabru she chose to leave two more dogs so the race towards Tana continues with only 10 dogs in the team.

-It is fun when the local people present extra gifts to the mushers and I have used the seating pad that I got last year a lot, a pleased Sigrid says. She feels happy about being a female model. She thinks she will use this years' gift a lot also. - The grouse is my favourite bird, she comments before she is off to bed.

Goes according to plan - almost

One of Sigrid's handlers, her brother Petter Ekran, says that so far the race has gone according to plan.
-Leaving dogs at the check points is never part of the plan, but these things happen, he says, after they had to take out a dog at Levajok.
