Frode Holten had to give up his lead last night. He was passed on the trail by the new leader Bjørnar Andersen, Tore Albrigtsen and Tove Sørensen. - I was really tired myself, so me and the dogs agreed that it was a good idea to get some sleep, he explained while he ate his warm dinner at 6:30 in the morning on wednesday. About him and the rest of the "hunting party" ->

Holten and and his dogs were still in the lead when they decided to rest, but where overtaken by the other three before they could finish the stage.

- This is not a time to push the dogs, especially since we both needed the time.

His plan is to sleep a little in Neiden before he will continue his trip. It seems likely that he will have to take out one of his dogs, because it's legs are too tired.

Bjørnar Andersen came in 2 hours and 19 minutes earlier than his closest competition, the double team from Tromsø. Tore Albrigtsen arrived again just ahead of Tove Sørensen once again, but this time they also picked up the tired Holten along the way. So they managed to come into the checkpoint with a time difference of only three minutes. Tore at 5:49, Tove at 5:50 and Frode at 5:52.

Already fast in the track, Andersen had to wittness the even faster trips of veterans Kjell Brennodden (7 hours and 16) and Roger Dahl, who managed to finish the stage in 7 hours and 3 minutes, exactly the time Rune Johansen needed last year, when he won the race. Kjell came in at 6:45 and Dahl at 7:05.

In 7 th place Ralph Johannessen arrived just ahead of Trond Ørslien. Having arrived at 7:08 and 7:14 it means that there are a lot of teams in the checkpoint right now, so that the mushers will be able to watch their competition over the rim of their breakfast coffee cup.
