To loose a team of 14 dogs in the middle of the night and up in the mountains is a mushers nightmare. Roger Dahl, participant in the 1000 km class, passed Elisabeth Edland, musher in the 500 km class, with good speed and power. Not long after this Edland meet Dahl standing in the middle of the trail without his team.

It is under such circumstances that good sportsmanschip counts. If one musher sees that another has a serious problem, then help is provided regardless of the competition.

Dahls handler Trine Lyrek says further: "Edland stopped and offered Dahl to ride with her and try and catch his team. However both agreed that with two on the sled it would be too heavy and slow for the eight dogs. Edland left and mushed with eagerness to try and catch Dahl's team. After a while she found the team, that had jammed and stopped in the trail. The dogs where very calm and there was no panic among them. Edland decided to tie her own team to a tree to check out the situation. While she was doing this, another team arrived that turned out to be Gorm Engen. He had Roger Dahl on his sled and there was a happy reunion. Roger is very thankfull for the help he received in this desperate situation that ended so well. After this drama Roger came into Levajok only 15 minutes behind Robert Sørlie with the second best time for this leg. Roger had in other words not lost neither rhythm, speed or allertness in his team" concluded Trine Lyrek.
