NM-status for both classes

Vinneren av FL 1000 får ikke bare heder og ære i år. Den som kommer først til Alta etter 1000 km kan også heve kongepokalen. Begge klasser skal kåre norgesmestere. - Stor stas, sier daglig leder i Finnmarksløpet, Gro Olaussen.

The winner of FL-1000 does not receive only cheers and glory this year. The team who arrives Alta first after 1000 km will also get the Royal Cup. Both the FL-1000 and FL-500 races have status as the Norwegian Championship. - It makes it extra joyful, says Executive Manager for Finnmarksløpet, Gro Anett Olaussen.

Long distance sled-dog racing has only had a Royal Cup in the open class once before, when Robert Sørlie won Femundløpet in 1993. Abner Hykkerud won FL-500 in 2000, and has a Royal Cup to proove his acheievment.

There will be a special ceremony for the winner of the Royal Cup and the Norwegian Championship-medals. Gunnar Solberg, president of the Norwegian Sled-dog Association will be here to honour the winners and give them their trophies.
