Sign-up to participate in Finnmarksløpet 2011 started August 15th. The first Finnmarksløp was arranged in 1981 and the celebrations will continue in 2011 marking the race’s 30 year anniversary. Sign-up to participate in Finnmarksløpet 2011 started August 15th. The first Finnmarksløp was arranged in 1981 and the celebrations will continue in 2011 marking the race’s 30 year anniversary. Finnmarksløpet will create a memorable frame for the anniversary and hope that many will participate in the celebration.
Saturday March 12th 2011: the start of the 31st Finnmarksløp. The race celebrates its 30th anniversary which will be noticed in many ways. The coming race is already being planned, and Finnmarksløpet hope many will take part in the winter-version of Tour de France.
Hard work is put into continuing the media coverage and creating good conditions for the mushers and the dogs. It is important for Finnmarksløpet to reach a large audience, but the main focus is always on the participants; the mushers and the dogs. A large team of vets, well-organized checkpoints and the best possible tracks are important keywords.
Based on this, Finnmarksløpet hopes to be a race for all types of competitors. We hope that many mushers who dream of “mushing Finnmark” are able to realize their dream in 2011. We will do what we can to organize the event to the best for all participants.
It has been possible to register for the race since Sunday August 15th and those who wish to part-take in the first start number draw must sign up before September 30th. The race is pen for registration until February 15th 2011.
New this year is an increased start fee for both classes. Since 2007 Finnmarksløpet’s start fees have been NOK 7000,- in the 1000 km class and 4000,- in the 500 km class. From 2011 these are NOK 8000,- and NOK 4500,-
