Arriving to a cold Karasjok

Ralph Johannesen suste inn til siste sjekkpunkt i dette årets FL1000 kl.03.07. En svært solid etappe som nok vil gi avkastning inn til Alta.

Ralph Johannessen arrived at top speed to the last checkpoint in this year’s FL1000 at 03:07. A very solid lap which might turn out to be important before the last lap in to Alta.

It is 30 degrees below at the checkpoint and it became colder and colder as we were waiting at the leading trio. It was said that at some places on the river it was below 40 degrees! That is cold for us from the south (for us in the north too. Transl. remarks)

Johannessen was welcomed by the mayor in Karasjok, Kjell Harald Sæther and the President of the Samiparliament, Egil Olli. Johannessen received gifts; a sami knife, a coffee bag made of hide, a wooden coffee cup and a sami flag. Johannessen thanked and thought it was like Boxing Day.

They came in to checkpoint Karasjok at the Rica Hotell. Here the dogs were put on straw in nice surroundings.

Robert Sørlie arrived at Karasjok 1 hour and 18 minutes after Johannessen. Sørle was quite satisfied with this lap and says that Johannessen has a very good team. It has been cold and he has been dreaming about Hawaii on the trail.

Bjørnar Andersen came in to Karasjok 20 minutes behind Sørlie, he too was cold and very happy to come off the river.
