FL1000: Jolly mushers

Det er natt og det er 4. døgn på sporet. Det er rå maktkamp i teten, men likevel sitter humoren løst blant gutta på sjekkpunkt.

It is early morning and four days on the trail. They are fighting hard in the front, but the mushers have not lost their sense of humour.

Ralph Johannessen had a serious expression on his face when Ketil Reitan blew in at Varanger just 22 minutes behind Johannessen. Reitan has taken 157 km in one go and still he beats Johannessen with 8 minutes from Neiden. That indicates that taking out the 16 hour rest in Kirkenes might have been a good move.

Reitan asks Johannessen how he is doing, Johannessen answers that he think Reitan came way to fast from behind and said he did not have to do that. He is tired and thinks it did not go to well from Neiden. Reitan is sympathetic and point out that Johannessen has not been on a hotel-holyday in Kirkenes and goes on about hot bath and soft beds. Johannessen has not much to say about that. Reitan says then that he wanted to meet new faces, so he had catch up with them.

When Robert Sørlie arrived as #4, behind Harald Tunheim, he is given some instructions from his handler Galaaen, Robert is listening until he is sharply told to look after his dogs. To which he just says: - It is you keeping me here!
