Varangerbotn er det sjekkpunktet på FL1000 hvor det alltid skjer noen endringer i tetbildet.Det har vært spekulert i nettopp det at Kjell Brennodden skulle blåse gjennom Varangerbotn.

Very often Varangerbotn turns out to be a checkpoint where important moves are made. It has been speculated that Kjell Brennodden would just drive through without a stop, and he did jus that.
He came in on the ice in beautiful light, left one dog and blew through the checkpoint. So now the race has taken a new turn. What will the others do?
