HEALTHTEAM: Geir Jøran Sara and Marius Johansen (to the left) in FL's team of health is happy that it was not necessary for them to take care of any emergencies in FL500. Here they are, just arriving in Alta (Foto: Erlend R. Strand).
Neither Sara nor Johansen had any doubts when they were asked to work for Finnmarksløpet. They have, in addition to several others, followed the mushers to provide extra safety for them.
-It has been my pleasure to contribute to Finnmarksløpet, says Geir Jøran who usually drives an ambulance. –It has been exiting to be a part of this,he says
Marius Johansen works as a doctor in Alta. He finds it fascinating to watch all the hustle and bustle that follows the race. –It has also been very interesting to see how well the mushers work with their dogs.
Well prepared
The content in the backpack they carry with them prepares them to deal with any situation. Fortunately, the 500km race went by without any major injuries so most of the equipment has not been used. – I think the only thing we have used is the stethoscope, says Sara.
