Dinner, suite and champagne for the winner

The winner of FL500, Ole Wingren from Finland could this afternoon check in at Rica Hotel Alta’s suite with champagne. After crossing the finish line at 14:49 he also found time for a nap, dreaming he was at Jotka.

At 5pm he and this years Norwegian Champion, Arnt Olav Skjerve sat down at the hotel’s restaurant with the deputy mayor Hilde Søraa, the hotel manager Kari Flesvik, manager of Finnmarksløpet, Gro Olaussen and Wingrens son Ronny who has been handler during the race.

The menu for the winners was of high class: For first course they were served a forest-mushroom-soup, while the main course was arctic-sea-char, before they finished of with an ice-trilogy. To the courses selected wines were served.

- This is very good, said a tiered Wingren. Skjerve was also pleased with being Rica’s guest. He was also guest at Rica in 2009 when he won FL500.

- I think I will make this a habit when I take part in Finnmarksløpet, Skjerve said. This must be understood to mean that he is hungry to be back and take home more victories from Finnmarksløpet.
