The press gathered around her in the finishing area where she did one interview after the other. It is a great achievement of such a young girl to do so well in this sport. To FL’s reporters Aila said that the race had pretty much gone according to her schedule. She has trained hard and systematically to prepare for the race in addition to laying down the schedule that would lead her to a place at the podium in the Norwegian Championship 2010 for eight-dog teams.

-At Iesjavri (the largest lake in Finnmark) I passed a group of people on snowmobilesafari. They had made camp right beside the trail and were cooking sausages on the fire. The dogs decided to keep them company and made a detour and I was worried I would not get them going again. Luckily I got them going again and they soon found the pace. At Jotka I met Sødal Kvam as he was taking out a dog from his team and I had to do the same. Not long after Jotka I almost caught up with him, but his team of dogs had higher speed than mine and at the river he was out of sight. I am very pleased with my dogs, they have raced well.

What are your ambitions?

-I have high ambitions as a musher, but I am careful with announcing my ambitions. During the race I thought at one point that I would be able to finish as number eight, considering that I finished as number 15 last year. I am of course very happy with being number four in FL500 and number three in the Norwegian Championship, concludes Aila who is a bit tired after the race, but also very happy. Now she has to wait for her father Krister Höök who is ten hours behind her in the trail.
