FL500: Wingren with Skjerve close behind

Det går fort oppover Tanaleva nå. Snaue to mil ut fra Levajok ligger Ole Wingren kun seks minutter foran Arnt Olav Skjerve. Begge har spreke spann med god marsfart.

The speed is fast up the Tana river now. Ole Wingren from Finland is only 6 minutes ahead of Norwegian musher Arnt Olav Skjerve 20 kilometers from Levajok. Both have good teams that hold great speed.

Wingren and Skjerve left Levajok right after each other at 9:55 this morning. According to our reporters at the checkpoint Wingren's team of dogs looked fast and healthy. Skjerve's dogs were quick too, but looked a bit weaker than his competitor's. The fact that Wingren has a short lead on the ice confirms this impression.

Elisabeth Edland, Norway, is also part of the race up the ice in Tana. She left the checkpoint 20 minutes after the two others, but she has experienced dogs with a lot of power so we might see changes in the lead during this long leg up the river towards Karasjok.
