Presis kl 12:30 la Lars Monsen ut fra Alta sentrum med HKH. kronprins Håkon Magnus som passasjer i sleden. Straks de var nede på elva byttet de plass, til stor glede for dem begge.

Precisely at 12:39 hours Lars Monsen left Alta city centre with the Crown Prince as passenger in his sled. At the river they switched places, to great pleasure for both of them.
As first time musher in Finnmarksløpet, the Crown Prince really deserves the name ’rookie’, even if he let Monsen take over the driving when they got close to the restart area, approx. an hour after leaving Alta. Judging by the Crown Prince's mood he would have continued on for a longer stage if it wasn't for his other duties. He was very happy with his debut in Finnmarksløpet.
