Finnmarksløpet was awarded the Northern Norwegian Marketingprize for Tourism 2010 during the event "Nord i Sør" (the North in the South) onboard the Hurtigruta Cruiseship MS Trollfjord that was docked in Oslo.

- A big surprise! We did not believe it at first, but understood it as the jury read the reasons, says press and informationconsulent in Finnmarksløpet, Hans Petter Dalby. This is thrilling, on behalf of the 400 volunteers, mushers, handlers, the checkpoints, owners, the board and all collaborators and sponsors, he continues. – A prize like this is noticed in Northern Norway, but also in the rest of Norway, and proves that we have done something right throughout all these years. We are grateful that the jury notices that the race helps create focus on Finnmark and the rest of Northern Norway, Dalby says.
