Norges hundekjørerforbund, the Norwegian Sled-dog Association, decided during their recent board meeting in October that Finnmarksløpet gets the Norwegian Championship for the 8-dog-teams in 2010. Frode Galaaen, the director of TKS, NHF writes this in an e-mail to Alta trekkhundklubb, the Alta Sled-dog Club.

The NHF (the Norwegian Sled-dog Association) supported TKS' suggestion of having Finnmarksløpet arrange the Norwegian Championship for 8-dog-teams in 2010. The Norwegian Championship for open class long-distance will be arranged by Femundløpet.

With the record-high number of mushers signed up for the 8-dog-team-competition so far, it will become a very exciting fight for the Championship title. Last time the title was part of the 8-dog-teams-competition in Finnmarksløpet was in 2006 when Erle Frantzen won and became the Norwegian Champion!
