In 2009, Finnmarksløpet is amazing that few have had to break, compared with the numbers in last three years.

Only six riders have lost in the 8-team class so far. Kristin Thorsen says, - It is very well in this year. Kristin Thorsen is Alta Trekkhundklubb’s manager. He believes beginners have a good experience of Finnmarksløpet.

There were 47 riders who came to the finishing in the morning of Saturday. It means that only 13% of the riders are defeated. In 2006, 43% of riders were defeated in 50-mile.In 2007, 39% of riders were defeated in 50-mile. In 2008, the figure was the highest in last three years. 45% of riders were defeated.

However they are ready to run 500km in this year, and Thorsen think many of the reasons are that there are great conditions this year. The weather was nice, no so cold, and not so much wind. There was little snow, and therefore we have also avoided deep “sugar snow”, snowstorm and heavy tracks. There was speculation about the long track would cause wrist injuries in dogs, but with few exceptions and put enough soft slopes that this was not a problem. The track was fast, and we have had good stage times. Thorsen means these conditions helped to make this year's rookies have been a great experience over the plateau and that more than usual, has managed to complete the course.

Currently there are only three riders who have broken the 14-team class. At the same time in 2006 there were 26% who had lost, while in 2007 was 24%. In 2008, it was as much as 32% who had to break.
