Bjørn-Hugo Kristoffersen is the first person in the history of Finnmarksløpet to go all the way to Kirkenes before taking the long 16 hours rest.

It has been discussed, and some have had plans of doing it, but they have not been carried through. The 42 year-old from Tana has made a tough and exciting decision. Bjørn-Hugo started the 12 (Norwegian) mile long stage towards Kirkenes at 05.19 p.m.

Trond Ørslien took the long rest in Tana, and only stopped at Neiden I for 2 hours and 48 minutes before continuing towards Kirkenes at 06.09 p.m. Trond still has all 14 dogs with him after 42 Norwegian miles and that is a good sign. After his 3rd place last year, he is one of the hottest candidates to win the cabin (Saltdalshytta).
