Even though he had a head start of 7 minutes Hans Petter Dalby was unable to defend his lead on the third last stage of the race. Sten Are Harder arrived at 2:37 at the Checkpoint in Suossjavre. However Dalby was only trailing by 2 minutes, meaning he lost 9 minutes to the musher from Kirkenes. The intense competition seems to continue as both contestants are expected to arrive in Alta on Monday afternoon. It will be interesting to see whether they will be able to decide the race between themselves or whether on of the following mushers will be able to catch up.

Dalby is likely to use the mandatory stop of 6 hours to fix his instable sled. One of the possibly decisive elements in this race will be whether one of them will have to take out a dog from the team. So far Dalby can still count on his whole team whereas Harder still has 7 dogs left. Monday morning around 9 o'clock we will be able to find out more about the leading teams and whether they will have to take out any of their dogs.
