This year 11 veterinaries will be working at the checkpoints during Finnmarksløpet. The goal is to have one vet for every tenth musher, according to chief veterinarian Charlotte Leschbrandt.

- This will give us an opportunity to survey the dogs, and we can then assist the musher in the best way possible. She ads that the veterinary team consists of participants of 6 different nationalities. They all have previous experience of working with sled dog racing.

This year the vet team will again give a free pre-race veterinary examination of the dogs. This has been announced in the programme, and on the recently updated veterinary pages. - We hope that as many as possible will use this opportunity to get guidance about the dogs by a veterinary experienced in dog sled racing, Charlotte concludes.
