After just one hour of rest in Sirma, Tunheim started towards the next checkpoint Levajok. His chasers chose another strategy. What are the drivers doing next?

Trond Ørslien rested 3 hours in Sirma, which he thought was totally necessary. He had to leave two dogs at the checkpoint and started towards the next checkpoint two hours after Tunheim. We will see how much Trond will profit out of this rest and if he is able to catch up with Tunheim.

Stein Håvard Fjestad was the third team leaving Sirma. He only took a break of 12 minutes. His travel time from Varangerbotn to Sirma is almost the same as the travel time of the two leaders. Fjestad now takes the chance with not resting in Sirma; but with 8 hours of rest in Varangerbotn (Tunheim about 5 hours and Ørslien about 3.5 hours) he is able and he needs to drive to Levajok directly. It is now going to be very exciting. In 2007 Tore Bergby was over 40 minutes faster on this lap than Tunheim and Johannessen.

Roger Dahl rested over 7 ½ hours in Varangerbotn, spent half an hour more than his competitors and just like Fjestad he is driving through Sirma without resting. He lies about four hours past Stein Håvard. So after Sirma he managed to improve his position from 8 to 4.

Nina Skramstad is driving the 1000 km race for the first time and impresses with her performance. She takes long rests and has good driving times. She is following a driving schedule with 5 hours rest in Varangerbotn and 3 hours rest in Sirma. Only 9 minutes after Dahl she drove out of Sirma.

Tore Bergby, title holder, is finally speeding up again. He rested over 8 ½ hours in Varangerbotn, mainly because of sick dogs. This seemed to work wonders. He continues with 10 dogs and is so far the fastest on the lap from Varangerbotn to Sirma.
