Finnmarksløpet repeats the success from last year together with Telespor when they equip some of the mushers with a GPS transmitter. Telespor contribute with 20 GPS's, which will do you are able to follow the results in both classes almost every minute.

During Finnmarksløpet 2007 8 GPS transmitters were operating, this year Telespor has sponsored 20.

The transmitters have the size of a cigarette pack and is hooked up with a battery of the same size. The transmitter receive data about the position from satellites and sends this information via GSM mobile net to a server, which makes you able to see where the mushers are located. The updates on the mushers' location require only a mobile net covering. There will off cause be some uncovered areas, but it worked surprisingly well last year. The transmitters update every 15 minutes.
