New Rule

The Trail Comity of Finnmarksløpet has confirmed a new rule in the race. The new rule is a supplement for the race marshal and the race veterinarian.

The rule is based on the same principle as among others Yukon Quest use. The new rule should be a supplement for the race marshal and the race veterinarian who are considering if a dog-team can continue the race, or if the dog-team can continue after an expanded break, or if the team should be disqualified.

Here is the new rule:

The race marshal or Race Judges in conjunction with a Race Veterinarian will have the absolute authority over the dog teams.
Their judgement as to withdrawal of a dog or dogs from the race, or any other conditions relative to dog care on the trail shall be final.
The health and condition of all dogs, as far as possible, will be visually assessed at every checkpoint.
Race veterinarians in conjunction with the race marshal or a race judge may deem it necessary to detain teams at any checkpoint if the health and welfare of a team warrants it.
No dog team will leave a checkpoint until the dogs in that team are fit to continue in the race.
