A year of records?

Will there be a new record in number of entrants in 2004?

Last record-year was 2000. Counting 30 teams in open class and 33 in limited. Number of mushers signing in that year was 67. This number was passed this morning by Ørjan Wårvik from Nordland signing in as number 68. As IÂ’m writing this - November 30. 14:00 - we are still waiting for a number of mushers who has phoned in their interest.

Going back we find the last year of records in 1987. This year 47 teams started. I can't remember how many in each class, but the limited class outnumbered the open as nowadays.

Since 1991 the numbers have been (open/limited): ): 91 - 18/8(!), 92 - 12/13, 93 - 10/17, 94 - 9/9 (Year of crises!), 95 - 17/29, 96 - 15/17, 97 - 21/22, 98 - 25/0, 99 - 16/0 (New crises!. In 98 and 99 there were only an open class), 00 - 30/33, 01 - 21/35, 02 - 14/32 and 03 - 14/32.
