Winner Ceremony 1000 km class

The Winner Ceremony for the 1000 km was held on Sunday at noon. Spectators surrounded the arena and applauded the mushers and congratulated the new Norwegian Champion.

A great deal of applause and cheering were heard in the city centre when the winner's name was called. The three top mushers held speeches where they thanked handlers, sponsors, family and others that had helped them before and during the race. The 15 mushers who had made it back to Alta so far were called at the Winners's Ceremony. They all received a diploma, a mug and a poster for finishing Finnmarksløpet. They also received prizes from business and commerce, Alta municipality, Finnmarksløpet AS and sponsors. 

The winner Tore Bergby also won a Polaris Sportsman 800 ATV, Finnmarksløpet-wine number 100 and some money.

Reidar Stenmark crossed the finish-line during the winner ceremony - to great applause. He spent exactly one week and five minutes on this year's Finnmarksløp.
