Johannessens handler, Arne Liakleiv, describes Tunheims sudden departure from Levajok as a desperate stunt.

- We haven´t seen anything like this for years. The musher in lead hasn´t had a stop this late in a race for many years. This is a primitive act, the competitors handler continues. Speculations will have it that Johannessen and Bergby will linger at Levajok to avoid giving Tunheim a free ride. - While the dogs still resting at Levajok are gaining strength, Tunheims dogs are now being drained. Liakleiv sees the sudden pull as a result of unexpectedly fierce competition in the front lines.
