The autopsy of the dog that died on the way from Jergul to Jotka on tuesday has revealed that the cause of death was an acute heart failure.

There are no hints that the cause of death was provoked by the musher. The dog was given the autopsy as part of a routine and it was conducted by the veterinarian Kjell A. Korbi from the Alta Dyreklinikk. As part of the same routine a report was filed to the Norwegian Mushers association NHF. This tragic case was handled by the Finnmarksløpet officials in a very proffesional way and completely by the book. The unlucky owner of the dog has previously received several honorable mentions for good dog handling by the veterinarians of the Finnmarksløpet.
