The French school Lycee dumont d’Urville located in Caen, Normandie have just spent two weeks in Alta together with Alta videregåendeskole (Alta high-school).

During these two weeks they got to know Finnmarksløpet and were thrilled! Now they are back in France and are planning to integrate www.finnmarkslopet.no as a part of their presentation of the time they spent in Alta.

The plan was to take part in a presentation of  Altas history, but it had to be replaced by a presentation of Finnmarksløpet, something both pupils and teachers were pleased about. They also got the opportunity to meet Harald Tunheim and to test his dogs. Apart from one pupil that was afraid of dogs, they all enjoyed it and it made a lasting impression on them.

The pupils all comes from different classes and when they get home they will present for the rest of the class experiences from Alta. They will then use information from the web page you are now eading to give them a taste of what they experienced in Alta. It is of importance for them that the page also gives information in English since they are doing this as a part of their English training.

Will Watch French Musher
Since they now know about the race they will follow closely the French musher Travdon. She is a rookie and is racing the 500km race. We can only hope that the interest in France increases so that more mushers find the way to defend the honor of the Tricolor.
