- Wingren might win, Elisabeth Edland comments as her Finnish competitior arrives Skoganvarre only 2 minutes behind her.

Wingren's dogs seems to be in good shape. The experienced musher let his dogs run as fast as they wanted from the start which resulted in the dogs pushing too hard. The lead dogs are used to running in the part of the track that is lowest, and with today's conditions this is also where the snow is deepest. He has decided to take a long rest, ca 6 hours at Skoganvarre.

Edland says she is happy if she makes it all the way around to the goal line. But this kind of polite shyness does not mean that she is among the top mushers in the 500 km race.

Mona Kolstad who arrived right behind Edland is also fighting among in the top. she has raced faster than planned at this stage. But she points out that the track-conditions are bad for the dogs, and she hopes for colder weather. - Sled-dog racing is not an indoor sport, Kolstad says.

Last update: Number 34 - Tore Bergby, racer in the 1000 km - leaves Skoganvarre towards Levajok.
