Splendid winner's ceremony

The winners of the 1000 km race were honoured during the festive atmosphere on the pedestrian precinct in the centre of Alta centre.

Many people came to see this unique celebration and rejoiced together with the winners, all the other competetors and participants. At the end all participants in Finnmarksløpet are winners.

The happy winners: Harald Tunheim, Alta, Hans Petter Dalby, Skedsmo/Alta and May-Conny Johansen, Alta

The winners: 67 years old Karsten Grønås (in the front) raced the first time and ended up as thirtheenth. Thomas Rosencranz, Place11; Benoit Gerad, Place 10; Tom-Frode Hansen, Place 9; Arne Karlstrøm, Place 8; Yngve Fagerlig, Place 7; Kjell Brennodden, Place 6; Roger Dahl, Place 5 and Tore Bergby, Place 4 stand next to him (from left to right). Ketil Reitan in 12th place was absent.

In the centre: The celebration took place on Saturday midday in the Alta centre. Many people cheered the winners. Mushers have crossed the finish line right here almost every day since last Monday.

Hans-Petter Dalby is a primary school teacher. He was supported by his pupils from Øvre-Alta school during the whole race.

Meeting between the veterans:Roger Dahl, Alta (in the right) and Kjell Brennodden,Folldal have participated many times in Finnmarksløpet. This year they got the fifth and sixth position, the difference was only 32 minutes between their arrivals.

The winning dog: Thira (3 years old) is the dog that Harald Tunheim wanted to sell last year, but decided not to. Despite the fact that she did not start training until December due to injuries, she was the leader of the team during the race. Naturally she was also on the pedestal.
