Harald Tunheim has won the Finnmarksløpet 2006 in a very convincing fashion. Taking the lead early in the race he had afterwards full control over his opponents all the way. A tired, but happy Tunheim was celebrated by a small crowd that had gathered in the centre of Alta, even though he arrived "in the middle of the night".
The 47 year old has now a fantastic record for the last 5 times he participated in the Finnmarksløpet. 4 out of 5 times he won while he finished in second place last year. There remains no doubt that he is the one to beat if you want to win the Finnmarksløpet 1000km.
