Crunch time is getting closer. Harald Tunheim has left Levajok at 03:19 with 10 dogs in his team. He only rested for less than three hours and surely was hoping to regain some of his previous lead. But the competition does not sleep.

At 03.47 Hans Petter Dalby also started on the stage to Karasjok, still having 11 dogs in his team. Race marshall Marit Honerød reported his dogs looked very good when they came into the checkpoint and Dalby claimed to have some special tricks to keep up the good mood and spirit in his team.

Inside the mountain cabin the tactical game between the competitors began. Everything the other one was doing was registered. So it came as no surprise that they left shortly after each other.

That means the next chapter in this years race is opened. Dalby must be able to keep the contact to Tunheim all the way to Karasjok to keep his chance of winning. It is going to be a cold trip on the river tonight and we can expect the teams to be in Karasjok in appr. 6 hours and here they will be taking their mandatory rest of 8 hours.
