Don Lyrek, former particapant and judge in the Iditarod in Alaska, started from Levajok at 13:40. With all 14 dogs still in the team Don has gotten a good start in the race.

Don left with ice in his moustache and a lifted head in minus 20 minus degrees and sunshine.

He is the first American to participate in Finnmarksløpet and his strategy is to get to the finish line. His lead dogs Fanta and Bruna were in good shape when he started.

It is a good thing as the 110 kilometer leg between Levvajok and Skippagurra is one of the longest of the race.
