According to the Head of track Magne Johansen, who just arrived in Levajok by Snowmobile, the snow conditions on the stage are unbalanced. One part of ca. 20 km is very fluffy, with much of powder snow. That might cause problems for the dogs, until the trail is again prepared for the race. Furthermore it is announced that the sky is clear, wind is low and temperature is at minus 25 degrees.

The powder snow affects the power of the dogs, who need much more energy then to struggle through the snow as if the trail would be hard and fine. Until now they were like that until now. It gets worse, the more the trail gets prepared. It will be especially problematic for those, who will arrive tonight a bit after the ones who are first.
