Communities in Eastern Finnmark would like to amplify their cooperation with Finnmarksløpet. That was the result of the meeting of Finnmarksløpet's management and the authorities from Sør-Varanger, Nesseby and Tana, and volunteers in Varangerbotn.

The aim of the meeting was to inform all concerned parties about present dog sledge race preparations and activities. That applies not only for this year’s race but also for the competitions in the future. All communities in Eastern Finnmark have agreed upon better cooperation to support a smooth process of the project. The coordination of the applications for the use of snowmobiles was named as an example.

Mutual profiling

The most important task related to Finnmarksløpet’s activities is the work done in the long run. That means to try to extend the interests for the Finnmarksløpet and use this to show the communities and their possibilities. That would ensure an efficient cooperation of the Communities and Finnmarksløpet. In the programme can be found everything from the start shown on a big screen, snowmobile cross race, darts and archery on skies, an introduction into the dog sledge sport and photo competition. The imagination is the only thing that sets limits.

More participants

The communities of Tana and Nesseby have already begun with the promotion for Finnmarksløpet 2006. Together they designed a poster with a variety of activities that will be running at the days of the race. According to Varangerbotn’s community, there is an evidence that several groups have the interests in Finnmarksløpet. Compared to the past, the basement in the Town hall was not in use, nowadays is going to be refurbished to provide the room of about 500m2 for tired drivers and businessmen. The remaining rooms are going to be used by the Finnmarksløpet organization.
