ATV to the winner of the 1000 km!

Polaris offers a brand new ATV to the 2006 winner of the 1000 km. This price has become very popular within the Sled Dog community. A musher with a large team of dogs uses an ATV during training before the snow falls and one can start using sleighs. This years’ winner of the 1000 km Roger Dahl proudly demonstrated his ATV and said: - Knowing that there was an ATV waiting for the winner at the finish line was an important source of inspiration when the race got harder. Me and my competitors are training very hard for the coming race and I can promise that there will be a tough fight for the 1st place.

Executive Director Hanne Rosenberg says that she has gotten numerous questions from competitors and others about whether there will be an ATV this time also. - It is good for the race that we now can publish the fact that this nice, valuable and to the mushers, useful, price also in 2006. We know that this is one of the factors that help raise the numbers of participants and create tougher competition.

Snowmobiles to trail work, press and guests

In the months before, during and after the race Finnmarksløpet needs a number of snowmobiles to make and mark trails, and to clean up. Furthermore, the race has its own press which works to get some of the press-members out onto the trails to cover the race. There is also work being done on trips and safaris for guests and collaborators during the race where snowmobiles will be used.

-Finnmarksløpet has neither the resources nor a wish to own such a large number of machines and therefore this agreement with Polaris means a lot. The snowmobiles that Polaris let us use are needed in order to be able to arrange the race, Rosenberg says. Finnmarksløpet is very pleased with the local sales-representative Sven Heitmann who has been very determined to create this cooperation. - You can thank Heitmann for this cooperation, says Sales Manager for Polaris Arild Sundby.
