Roger Dahl was the first one to reach the checkpoint in Sirbma and began to take care of his dogs when 45 minutes later Harld Tunheim arrived. But Tunheim used a surprising tactic: he went straight through the checkpoint. So Roger reacted and jumped straight onto his sled. Now they are both closely together but Harald is in the lead.

The checkpoint official Eva Marie Røen reports that the weather conditions are good but that they expect about 20 cm of new snow during the night. This can be a challenge for the mushers. According to Roger it has been hard and tiring to go and the sled was not gliding so very well.

Røen, furthermore explains tat the dogs looked in relatively good shape but adds that the conditions on the trail are going to be tough.

Tunheim needed 12 minutes less than Roger Dahl on the 70 km long stretch from Varangerbotn.
