Musher Program for Finnmarksløpet 2018

Important information about tickets for the banquets

Mushers and one handler get one ticket each to the banquets. Tickets are found inside the info-folder that is handed out at the Race-office when you register. If the musher wants to bring more handlers they have to buy extra tickets. Tickets are bought at “Finnmarksløpets Headquarter”

Closing Banquet FL-1200: Mushers in FL-1200 and one handler have free entrance. All Mushers and handlers in FL-500 have free entrance to the FL-500 banquet. It FL-500 mushers and their handlers would like to take part in the FL-1200 banquet on Saturday, they have to buy tickets. 

 


From Monday March 5th

Finnmarksløpet’s Headquarter is located in Kunnskapsparken downtown Alta from March 5th through March 18th. Race café, press center, race office and sale of Finnmarksløpet profile articles in sales tent outside Kunnskapsparken. 

The Race office - registration will be open from Tuesday March 6th for delivering mandatory lists, check of veterinary papers and for controlling and weighing of the mandatory extra-food for the dogs and check of vaccination papers.

There will be a control of the dogs’ entry date to Norway and vaccination papers with proof of rabies and ecinoccose-treatment. We therefore ask all mushers to pay special attention to the requirements listed on the veterinary pages. This is particularly important for the foreign mushers. For more information look up the vet pages!

For Norwegian mushers: vaccination papers and matching chip number on the dog-list will be controlled at the race office

At the registration office you will also find maps with the trail marked on them.

Information about the mandatory pre race check will be send by e-mail to each musher.

Wednesday March 7th

08.00 - 20.00 Mandatory pre race check and chip control for FL-1200, excact time and place will be send by e-mail.

11:00 - 21:00 Registration Office open.  


Thursday March 8th

 

Between: 09:00 - 15:00 at Postnord, Bukta - food/depot drop

Handing of the food drop bags: Every bag must be placed on the back of the trailer by the musher or his/her helpers. Bags left on the ground will not be carried out! The trailers leave Alta on Thursday at 15:00, three o’clock. 

13:00 - 14:30. Information for rookies -mandatory! Entrants will be informed about place in e-mail.

16:00 - 18:00. Musher’s info meeting FL-500 and FL-1200 - mandatory! All mushers must meet, plus at least one handler per team.

Entrants will be informed about place in e-mail.

18.45 - 19.00 Gathering for the defilering at the Borealis festival. Scandic entrance headed towards DNB. Be accurate. 

19:00 - 19:30. Alta City Centre: - Opening of Borealis festival. Mandatory for all entrants, remember neat and clean musher outfits.

20:00 - 22:30. Scancic Hotel Alta: Sparebanken 1 NORD-NORGE’s Start banquet.

Buy extra tickets at the “Finnmarksløpet’s Headquarter”, downtown Alta.

Sale start Wednesday March 7th 12:00 pm, pre booking not possible.

NOTE: Everyone, also mushers and handlers, have to show valid tickets at the entrance in order to enter banquets and ceremonies! Persons not holding a ticket will not get in. See information about tickets for mushers hand handlers above.



Friday March 9th

08.00 - 20.00 Mandatory pre race check and chip control for FL-500 and FL-junior, excact time and place will be send by e-mail.

12:00 - 14:00: Alta City Centre: Showrace for FL-500 entrants. Mandatory. Information about the showrace will be send by e-mail to each musher.

After the showrace there will be a gathering for mushers and guest riders in the FL-shop tent. There will be served light food and drinks.

 

18:45 - 19:00. Official opening of Finnmarksløpet 2018. At pedestrian area of the city center.

 

19:00 - 20:30. Start Finnmarksløpet 1200 - 2018. At pedestrian area of the city center - START.

Teams start with 2 minutes intervall. Note, there will be check of all the mandatory equipment before start. 

  


Saturday March 10th

10:00 - 12:00 The start-area opens to the mushers and their vehicles

Where? Alta city center – Finnmark University College MEET ON TIME!

Note, there will be check of all the mandatory equipment before start. 

 

13:00 - 14:30. Start for Finnmarksløpet junior and Finnmarksløpet 500

Where? Pedestrian area of the city center - START.

Start order: FL-junior - FL-500

 


Sunday March 11th

15.00 - 20:00 Downtown Alta - pedestrian area: The teams in the FL-junior class cross the finish line in Alta some time during the afternoon.



Monday March 12th

11:00 - 11:30: Alta city centre - pedestrian area: PRIZE CEREMONY -  FL-junior

  


Tuesday March 13th

03:00 - 10:00: Alta city centre - pedestrian area: The first teams in the FL-500 will cross the finish line in Alta.

All day. Alta city centre. Entrants in the FL-500 class will cross the finish line.


Wednesday March 14th

All day. Alta city centre. Entrants in the FL-500 class will cross the finish line.

14:00 - 15:30: Evaluation meeting FL-500. Entrants will be informed about place in e-mail.

16:00 - 17:00: Alta city centre. WINNER CEREMONY FOR FL-500 

PS! All mushers who started and have arrived in Alta must attend!

19:00 - 24:00. "Banquet" - Scandic Alta

Free entrance for mushers + 1 handler (if a musher wants to bring more than one handler, they will have to by tickets).

Volunteers and others who want to take part can buy tickets at “Finnmarksløpets service tent” in the city centre. Tickets must be bought by Tuesday March 13th before 2.00 PM.

Friday March 16th

03.00 - 15.00 Downtown Alta - pedestrian area: Winner of FL-1200 crosses the finish line.

Many entrants will normally cross the finish line all through the weekend. Normally, the last man standing appairs Sunday morning.


Saturday March 17th

All day. FL-1200 teams crossing the finish line.

12:00 - 13:00: Alta city centre. WINNER CEREMONY FOR FL-1200

NOTE! All mushers who started and have arrived in Alta must attend!

14:00 - 16:00: Evaluation of Finnmarksløpet 1200 

19:00 - 22:00: CLOSING BANQUET - Scandic Hotel Alta:

Banquet for all participants in Finnmarksløpet; mushers, volunteers, handlers, media, guests, sponsors, audience and others.

Dinner.
Coffee.
Special prizes.
Entertainment.
Formal clothes!

Free entrance for mushers in 1200 km and may in addition bring 1 handler (free of charge).

Mushers and handler in 500 km and secondary handlers, volunteers and others who want to take part can buy a ticket at “Finnmarksløpets headquarter”, in the city center. Tickets must be bought before Saturday March 17th 14:00(2 PM).
